This male Jackson's chameleon has three horns on its head, and the female has one smaller horn on its head in addition to horns by each eye. Chameleons' eyes can move independently of each other and can magnify things that are very far away. Chameleons change their skin color to camouflage themselves and hide from potential predators.

Some chameleons' tongues are as long or longer than their bodies. The tips of their tongues have a sticky pad that traps their prey—usually insects. This all happens in about one-twentieth of a second.
